Each week a curated article is provided to facilitate evidence-based personality development through structured reflection and psychological insight
@kendalljenner “I want to have everything figured out before going into a committed relationship.” That’s a sentence I heard last week, and due to my research in exactly that field, I would love to clear the air on how relationships actually block this development or enhance it for the better. Biblotherapy
“The use of books selected on the basis of content in a planned reading program designed to facilitate the recovery of patients suffering from mental illness or emotional disturbance. Ideally, the process occurs in three phases: personal identification of the reader with a particular character in the recommended work, resulting in psychological catharsis, which leads to rational insight concerning the relevance of the solution suggested in the text to the reader’s own experience. Assistance of a trained psychotherapist is advised.”

A psychologist holds at least an M.Sc. in Psychology, which means at least six years of studying human functioning. There are different focuses that psychologists choose throughout their studies. As a health psychologist, you focus on prevention and performance enhancement. A licensed psychologist has completed clinical training and focuses on treating pathology through therapy. A psychiatrist will treat mental illnesses with medication. Life coaching is therefore ideally led by health psychologists.

"Psychological counselling? I don't need it - at least that's what I thought. I didn't know what to expect at my first appointment, but I thought it was worth a try. Due to my constant lack of motivation in my job search, with Samir's help I came across even deeper problems rooted in me. After each of the three one-hour sessions, I went out with a new sociological lens on my situation. Thanks to his passion and commitment, he helped me to clear the mental fog that was covering up my blockages - often even beyond the agreed time. Now I know where to focus my energy and what I can do to better understand my career path and even myself. Thank you very much, Samir!"
